The global active economy, valued at $3 trillion dollars, incorporates diverse sectors such as sport, active recreation, health and wellness, and the technology and tourism sectors.

For cities committed to increasing vibrancy and livability, becoming a global leader in the active economy requires collaboration, planning and commitment.

In Calgary, the active economy includes thousands of organizations and hundreds of thousands of people, powering the economic and social prosperity of our community. Over the next year, the ActiveCITY Collective will engage thousands of Calgarians to develop a collective vision and framework for maximizing the potential of our active economy and to transform Calgary into Canada’s most livable city.

Kicking off this engagement is the 2019 ActiveCity Summit.

“The ActiveCITY Summit will chart a path forward for Calgary’s sports business ecosystem. With over 2,000 organizations identified as participating members in our active economy, it is important we get as many stakeholders to the table as possible.” Mary Moran, President & CEO, Calgary Economic Development and ActiveCITY Board Member.

Join community leaders and experts at ActiveCITY Summit 2019 to debate the future of our active economy. Through dynamic speakers, panels and hands-on working groups, questions facing our active economy will be discussed including how collaboration can lead to innovation and what trends are driving the future of the active economy.

“The ActiveCITY Collective has bold goals for this community. We aim to not only transform Calgary into Canada’s most livable city but embark upon the largest public engagement in our city’s history. The insights generated will be pivotal in advancing our community’s economic strategy, Calgary in the New Economy,” Jason Ribeiro, Director of Strategy, Calgary Economic Development and Chair of ActiveCITY Public Engagement and Communications Working Group.
