In December 2023, unemployment rates across Canada remain relatively steady and stable. Calgary's unemployment rate declined and is now the fourth highest unemployment rate of major Canadian cities.

Calgary unemployment rate decreased MoM to 5.8 per cent (down from 5.9% in Sept). Calgary’s position among other Canadian municipalities remains strong as our city’s labour force has remained more resilient than other cities.
2023 Indigenous Economic Contribution Study
The Indigenous Economic Contribution Study – jointly commissioned by Calgary Economic Development and the City of Calgary, and conducted by MNP in 2023 – sets a benchmark and identifies opportunities to advance the economic participation and socio-economic outcomes for Indigenous Peoples in the Calgary and Treaty 7 region.
