South Korea is Alberta’s fifth largest export market. Canada and South Korea concluded the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA) in 2014 which is Canada’s first bilateral free trade agreement in the Asia-Pacific. Alberta’s exports to South Korea include woodpulp, coal, canola oil, machinery and pork and beef. Alberta’s oldest sister province relationship is with Gangwon province while Daejeon is Calgary’s sister city.
