As Calgary businesses face new challenges, many are looking to maximize their property budgets and leverage better deals by moving within the city.
Such moves, though, can leave them vulnerable without the right real estate expertise.
Cresa Alberta, a tenant advocacy firm, is in an ideal position to respond to this need with its new project management division, which was
created in 2015.
“The new project management division is an example of leadership because it really provides a full scope of service to our clients from start to
finish,” says Janet Hewitt, principal, project manager at Cresa Alberta.
“We start with real estate strategic planning, move to transaction management and finish by managing and overseeing the build-out of the
client’s new space and moving them in.”
She says there are many “moving pieces” that the firm assists its clients with through the process.
“We oversee hiring — typically through a competitive bid process — and provide ongoing supervision of architects, engineers, general contractors, furniture, fixtures and equipment vendors and speciality consultants such as those engaged in meeting our clients needs for security or signage and such,” says Hewitt.
They also manage the completion of architectural and engineered drawings that incorporate all the necessary components required by the client.
“We oversee the general contractor and sub-trade contractors throughout the build-out to ensure what is on the drawings is being built.”
The company also manages hiring, through a competitive bid process, and oversight of the relocation vendor, ensuring the client and its employees have a successful and seamless move, she says.
The two key elements that Cresa experts closely monitor are adherence to the budget and the schedule.
“At the end of the day, we do what we do best so that our
clients can do what they do best,” says Hewitt. “Our project management division ensures that our clients and their staff are able to focus on their core business, while we handle the intricacies of every little detail required for a successful project.”
