The Calgary 2026 Winter Olympics Bid Committee today announced that Mary Moran, our President and Chief Executive Officer, would take a leave of absence from Calgary Economic Development to join the Calgary 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games bid as Chief Executive Officer through the end of 2018.
The position would become permanent if Calgary proceeds with a bid for the Games. Steve Allan, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Calgary Economic Development, will assume the role of Executive Chairman and fulfill the responsibilities of President and CEO during Mary’s leave of absence.
“On behalf of the Board, I want to wish Mary the best as she takes a leave of absence from Calgary Economic Development to take on this exciting opportunity and to say we are confident she will do a great job in this historic undertaking for our city,” said Steve Allan, Chairman of Calgary Economic Development.
“I will assume the role of Executive Chairman and fulfill the responsibilities of President and CEO during Mary’s leave of absence. I have tremendous confidence in the executive team and all the staff at Calgary Economic Development to deliver on the ambitious goals that we’ve established to diversify and grow the Calgary economy. It will be business as usual in Mary’s absence.”
