New construction activity weakened in 2007 as total housing starts decreased by 20.8 per cent to 13,505 units, from 17,046 units in 2006. Driving the annual slowdown was a 25.8 per cent decrease in starts of single-family units. Multi-family units also fell by 12.7 per cent compared to 2006
