Calgary continues to be the western head office capital of Canada - moreover, it is the head office capital of Canada on a per capita basis.

It has experienced a 9.2 per cent growth in major head offices over the past three years (2006-2008) - 119 Calgary-based companies are in the FP500 database, 10 of which are among the top 50 in Canada.

Calgary had the highest concentration of head offices among the Census Metropolitan Areas of Canada. In 2006, it boasted 9.7 major corporate headquarters per 100,000 population. By 2008, it reached a concentration of 10.1 head offices per 100,000 population.
