The Calgary Census Metropolitan Area added 35,769 people in 2016 with almost 60 per cent of the new arrivals – or 21,345 people – coming from international locations. Calgary is now home to more than 1.43 million people and is Canada’s third most multicultural city after Toronto and Vancouver. In the past five years, 43 per cent of people who moved to Calgary were of international origin.
