Global Clean Energy Congress - November 1-3, 2011
WADE Canada, dmg events and Calgary Economic Development (CED) present the inaugural Global Clean Energy Congress and Exhibition, November 1 – 3, 2011 at Stampede Park.
Calgary was chosen to host this event because it is home to many of the largest headquarters for oil and gas companies in North America, and its strength in facilitation of emerging clean energy practices, research and development, application and integration of technologies.
As part of the Congress, Virgin announced that a selection of the leading organizations will present as part of the Virgin Earth Challenge. This includes the only Canadian pioneer, Carbon Engineering (CE), a Calgary based start-up company developing technologies for industrial scale capture of CO2 from air.

CED leading a trade mission to Colombia
In response to requests from Ecopetrol and other oil and gas operators in Colombia, CED is leading a trade mission in early November.
This trade mission will bring much needed oil and gas service companies to Colombia to fill gaps in service, increase competition and decrease high service fees. Canada and Colombia have an established trade and investment relationship, and the potential is high for Canadian companies in Colombia - particularly in oil and gas, mining, power and information/communication technologies.

Calgary. Be Part of the Energy launches in Eastern Canada
In mid-September, launch events for Calgary. Be Part of the Energy took place in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax. Over three days, CED staff, Mayor Nenshi and coalition members took part in six business development and people attraction events, with many sold out and generating significant national media coverage.
The campaign is continuing with advertising in all markets running until the end of the year.
