Edworthy ParkEdworthy Park, Lowery Gardens and Douglas Fir Trail encompass 127 hectares (314 acres) on the Bow River between Sarcee and Bow Trails. This area offers fishing spots and the Douglas Fir hiking trail to the Lowery Gardens. Some of the Douglas Fir trees are 400 years old and seven feet in circumference. Deer, buffalo bones and teepee rings can still be found in Edworthy. Guided group walks, playground equipment, picnic areas and shelters and over night camping facilities are available.Telephone 403.974.3111 Fish Creek Provincial ParkFish Creek Provincial Park is Canada's largest urban park. The park stretches 19 kilometres from northeast to west, named for the creek that runs through it and empties into the Bow River. This park encompasses 1,348 hectares (3, 331 acres) of grasslands, wetlands, shrub lands, coniferous and deciduous forests. It also has 46 kilometres of red shale and paved pathways, making it a favourite spot for urban hiking and cycling.The park also contains a man make lake for swimming (Sikome Lake), interpretive facilities, and safe fire pits for picnics. Glenmore Park and Weaselhead FlatsGlenmore Park surrounds the reservoir and offers some of the most beautiful hiking trails east of Banff. The city's most extensive network of trails is located here and can be enjoyed year-round. It was originally the site of logging operations that used the waterway to transport logs. This important green space in the downtown core is an oasis amidst the pavement and skyscrapers. With its central location and beautiful atmosphere it is the perfect location for the many summer festivals that are held in the park each year.Stanley ParkLocated on the south side of the Elbow River, Stanley Park is a favourite picnic and summer spot for Calgary families.
