Shakespeare in the Park

Alberta Theatre Projects

Ground Zero

Ground Zero is the theatrical voice of Generation X showcasing plays such as Laurence Fishburne's Riff Raff and Eric Bogosian's SubUrbia. Loose Moose Theatre

The Loose Moose is well-known for both its children's theatre and its improvisational theatre. The Theatre holds the International Improvisation School in Calgary each July. Teachers and performers come from around the world for this intensive two-week course in improvisation.

Lunchbox Theatre

The Lunchbox Theatre presents 5O-minute shows tailored to the lunchtime crowd. Audience members are invited to bring their own bag-lunch to enjoy the one-act plays by Canadian playwrights.
Every season the company also hosts the Petro-Canada Stage One Plays. These are a collection of fresh one-act plays by Canadian playwrights, which span a variety of genres including docu-dramas, revues and musicals.

One Yellow Rabbit

During the last 23 years, One Yellow Rabbit has grown into an established and internationally recognized company. Each year it presents a minimum of three new and original plays, produces High Performance Rodeo (Canada's premiere showcase/festival of new and experimental performance theatre), and tours various Canadian and International venues. OYR is located in the 200-seat Big Secret Theatre in the Epcor Centre for the Performing Arts.

Pumphouse Theatres

As a Registered Historic Resource, the Pumphouse Theatres building was originally constructed as Water Pumping Station No. 2, serving Calgary from 1913 to 1967. In 1968, it was saved from demolition and was restored and equipped with two fully functioning theatres. Productions are presented September through June by community arts groups.

Storybook Theatre

StoryBook Theatre is a venue specifically catering to children, offering events such as performance camps, plays and sleepovers. It is also strongly supported by community involvement. Every production is the result of volunteers mentoring and learning, on and behind the stage. The theatre seats up to 350 people patrons and has 1100 volunteer positions available.

Pegasus Performances

Pegasus Performances is a Calgary-based theatre and entertainment company which has been around since 1993. Pegasus is the resident company at the City of Calgary owned historical sites, the Deane House Restaurant and Fort Calgary.  The Deane House is the host of the longest-running Murder Mystery Dinner Theatres in the city of Calgary. There, Pegasus presents both Public & Private Comic Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre shows each month.
