Calgary's Business Revitalization Zones

Calgary, Heart of the New West. A dynamic people city of enterprising business and culture. At the very core of that unique urban energy are the city's Business Revitalization Zones (BRZ).

The BRZ's have a significant impact on Calgary's unique urban culture through their investment in improving, beautifying and maintaining the city's business areas. Since the establishment of the first BRZ in 1984, nine BRZs have been created, representing 5400 businesses (20 of all Calgary's businesses) totaling over $660 million of assessment value.

The BRZs are each distinct in their character:

• Bowness
• Calgary Downtown Association
• Fourth Street
• International Avenue
• Kensington
• Uptown 17
• Victoria Park
• Inglewood
• Marda Loop

As Calgary continues to lead the country in growth, the BRZ's have been the source of area rejuvenation and pride. Their community leadership has helped to create a more attractive business and social climate through job creation; healthy, safe and clean neighbourhoods; integrated approaches to housing; and a higher quality of living.

The many significant cultural and entertainment attractions in the BRZ's attract Calgarians from all walks and showcase Calgary as a great place to live, work and play - in the "Heart of the New West".
