Semi-annual State of the Economy Report - June 21, 2010 The Calgary Economic Development (CED) semi-annual State of the Economy Report, in partnership with the Calgary Herald, for the first half of 2010 shows that the global economy continues to be in a state of volatility resulting in neither a strong positive nor negative performance in 2010 for Calgary. This volatility stems from such factors as: economic uncertainly in the EU, tensions in North Korea, uncertainly of the US recovery, slowing of the Chinese economy, scrutiny in he global financial sector and the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. The impacts these are having are apparent at the economic level, but at the psychological level as well, as businesses and people are less comfortable with spending and investment in an environment of instability.
