Calgary Economic Development's annual Economic Outlook takes place Thursday, September 23 at the Hyatt Regency Calgary.
This year's event will feature presentations from Adam Legge, Vice President & Chief Economist, Calgary Economic Development, and Craig Alexander, Senior Vice President and Deputy Chief Economist for TD Bank Financial Group.

2010 Calgary Carbon Finance Conference - October 20 - 21, 2010
Increasingly, carbon emissions are not just the concern of environmental, health and safety staff. They are an important matter for senior management, equity analysts, project financiers, insurers, new financial players, and mainstream institutional investors.
Accordingly, the Calgary CFA Society (CCFAS) and Calgary Economic Development (CED) are developing a Carbon Finance conference for the fourth quarter of 2010. The goal of the conference is to keep professionals in Calgary abreast of topical issues related to Carbon Finance and to promote the expediting of business investment, trade development and sustainable growth for the Calgary region.

Global Business Centre Launch recap
On June 29, the Global Business Centre for Southern Alberta was officially launched. The event featured remarks and presentations from a number of key government and industry leaders.
Supported by government and the business community, Calgary's newest business resource, the 7,000 sq. ft. Global Business Centre is not only dedicated to the attraction and retention of new business, but provides support to Southern Alberta business by minimizing the risk that can be associated with international trade initiatives.

Behind the Scenes debuts new ad at Cineplex theatres
Starting August 13, four Cineplex theatres in Calgary will be running a brand new ad for Behind the Scenes, CED's film friendly initiative. The ad features John Scott, a Calgary-based Wrangler and Stunt Coordinator, and highlights the economic benefits of and high quality work produced by the local film industry.
Some of this work can currently be seen in the summer blockbuster Inception, as a major section of the film was shot in the Calgary region.
The ad will be running from August 13 - September 11 at the following theatres: Crowfoot Crossing, Sunridge Spectrum, Scotiabank Theatre Chinook, and Westhills; but you can get a sneak peek of the ad using the link below.
