Brief city description: Jaipur was founded in 1727, by the astronomer King Sawal Jai Singh. Jaipur is a beautiful city located in north western India. It is known as the "Pink City" because of the distinctive colour of the buildings there. Since its twinning with Calgary in 1973, Jaipur has gone through tremendous economic reforms and deregulation.
Population: As of 2001 India census, Jaipur had a population of 2,324,319. Males constitute 53 per cent of the population and females 47 per cent. In Jaipur, 15 per cent of the population is under six years of age.

Key Industries/Areas of opportunity Industries including distilling, metal working, textile weaving, engineering and manufacturing. Major road, rail and air connections make Jaipur a hub for industry in this region.
